Kindle Erotica Project Month 2 Results
Well, it’s been a couple of months since I started this project, so I thought it was time for an update. So far, I have changed my covers a couple of times and then changed one of them back. I’ve also tweaked the prices a bit. In addition to those two changes, I am also working on a third erotica title. This new one will not be in the same “Southern Erotica” series, but it will be a lot more hard-core. I’m about halfway through writing it right now and I’m working with a cover designer on the cover. She is a fellow erotica writer and her covers are amazing. I can’t wait to see what she works up for me.
As far as results go, I’m very, very happy with where I am. I have four titles listed on Kindle right now. One is a book that my friend and I wrote a few years ago and have been selling hard copies of. Two of them are erotica titles and one is a “tips” book that I wrote to go along with my health and weight loss website. From those four books, my sales are as follows:
January 2012: $14.73
February 2012: $165.84
March 2012: $316.29
I’m no good with percentages, but I consider that a hell of an increase in sales. : ) If any of you math nerds out there want to run the numbers for me and let me know what they are, I’d love to hear from you.
I can’t wait to give an update for next month and I really hope that this income continues to grow at such a rapid rate. It could eventually become a huge income boost instead of a small new stream of income.
Kindle Erotica Project Results Month One
I know it’s been quite a while since I posted, but with the knee surgery and working on other projects, I have been swamped! Today I finally have a chance to sit down and let you guys know how it’s going with the Kindle Erotica project!
I published the book on February 13th, 2012. After it had been online for a few days, I decided to use 2 out of the 5 days of free promotion that I had access to. Let me back up -
When I published Southern Erotica: Volume One, I added to the KDP Select program. This means that I agreed to exclusively sell this book through Amazon. It also means that I am allowing the book to be “borrowed” by Amazon prime members. You get a little cash each time the book is borrowed. Last month, authors received $1.60 per borrow. This is a pretty nice rate, especially if you only selling your book for a buck or so!
Norse Goddesses and the Google Image Search: A New Trick I Learned
Yesterday I read about a new trick you can do with Google image search. Someone on G+ told me that you can now drag photos into the image search box and you will get a search listing of other photos that are similar or things that have to do with that photo. I thought that was pretty cool.
Lo and behold, today I had a chance to test it out. My best friend sent me a text of the picture to the left. She has to write an essay on the picture, describing it to someone who had been blind their entire life. She told me that it looked familiar to her and she wondered if it was Perseophone. I couldn’t quite figure it out. Then I remembered my new Google trick.
I sent the photo to my computer and then I went to Google Image Search. From there I clicked on the little camera icon at the right end of the search bar. This brought up a window where I could paste in an image URL or upload an image. I uploaded my image and clicked search.
I got EXACTLY what I was looking for, including this. I found the Wikipedia page about this picture, that told me who the artist was and what the image is about, the Norse Goddess Freyja. Perfect!
I posted a link to the Wikipedia page on her Facebook wall and BAM – she was ready for her project.
Ahhh technology…how I love thee.
Have you tried this?

My friend Christy was messing around and drew this up on a sheet of paper. I thought it was brilliant and figured I would go in and make it all Internet official and shit.
